Great feeder. Maybe too great.

I agree with all the positive things that reviewers say about this feeder, both here and on other sites. Easy to set up (mine’s atop a pole), easy to fill, camera works great. The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was how fast the birds can empty this thing. It holds quite a lot of seed and I think birds could empty it maybe 3 times a day. The seed drops (by gravity) from the reservoir onto the feeding tray as the tray is cleared off. Big blue jays land on the tray, swing their heads back and forth to rummage for the seed they want, and send showers of seed onto the ground. I can’t afford to fill this 3 times per day. As a result, the feeder is usually empty within an hour or two. Did I do something wrong in the assembly? Is there supposed to be something that slows down how fast seed can drop onto the tray? Thank God I have a baffle to keep the squirrels at bay, or it would be empty in 10 minutes.

I actually love this!

This is such a cool bird feeder. It is simple to put together and the camera is actually a lot better quality than I was excepting. I like that it is wireless and that it’s solar powered. So you do have to be aware of where it’s positioned to make sure it’s getting enough solar energy. Wouldn’t work under a Tree or in the shade. It’s entertaining for the whole family. It’s fun to look at the birds and to identify them. This would make a nice gift as well.

Easy to set up, viewed videos immediately on my phone thru app.

"I’m a little disappointed and I deducted a star because I was super excited to have something much smarter than me identify my birds for me. You have to pay for a subscription for this feature (minimum $31.99 a year and the bird AI thing might be extra— didn’t get that far because I didn’t sign up for the mandatory basic service), and the whole app is for security cameras with the bird thing being a sideline for the company.

However… setup was easy and straightforward, app registration was simple, and my birdfeeder is ready to go when my bears go into their winter places, wherever that may be. For now the birdfeeder is in my kitchen and I’ve seen multiple videos of myself bustling around— they’re alarmingly high quality and are clear for quite a distance. I don’t like to see myself on video randomly! But I don’t think my birds will mind. Love the design and the multiple mounting options. Ours is going to go on a pole outside the study window for good WiFi connection and closeup viewing of the birds we see on a daily basis at a distance."
